The Lunar Atmosphere and Dust Environment Explorer (LADEE) launched on 7 September 2013 and reached lunar orbit on 9 October 2013. LADEE's mission was to characterize the Moon's tenuous surface bound exosphere and dust environment from orbit. After completing 30 days of commissioning phase science operations, LADEE successfully performed a 100 day primary mission and a 28 day extended mission. LADEE unceremoniously impacted the farside on 18 April 2014.
